Ferdinand SanchezManila-born Ferdinand spent seven years travelling the world on luxury cruise liners with Royal Caribbean before settling in New Zealand in 2009 with his wife Veronica and baby daughter Francine. A hotelier’s son, he graduated in hotel and restaurant management at De La Salle University and worked in hospitality before joining the Brilliance of the Seas, and then being selected as one of the start up team for the Serenade of the Seas (built in Germany and with Whoopi Goldberg as Godmother.) Within four months he was promoted to assistant hotel storekeeper for another start up, the Mariner of the Seas, built in Finland. Promoted again in short time, he worked as facilities dispatcher under a Facilities Manager who is now working at Oprah Winfrey School in South Africa. Everyone knows him by the name of Sanchez, but close friends calls him Ferdie. With a wonderfully courteous way of dealing with the curliest requests, Sanchez likes photography and aikido (since 1997), and has plans to do further studies. The only places he hasn't been are the Middle East, Hawaii and Alaska – but he hopes to right that in the next couple of decades |
