Giving Back Charitable Programme
Since we began marketing natural health products 15 years ago with talkback broadcaster Tim Bickerstaff as a founding director, they’ve had a personal dimension as well. That’s because Tim faced many of the health challenges common to his age group including erectile dysfunction, diabetes, and a struggle to manage his weight. His experiences influenced our understanding of the issues. Common Experiences Tim’s death of diabetes-related heart disease in October 2009 underlined the gravity of the downhill sequence that takes so many men from high blood pressure and insulin resistance to heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Through Tim’s experience and conversations with many thousands of our customers we’ve become increasingly aware of common factors affecting men’s and women’s midlife health which will create big challenges for both the individuals affected and wider society over the next two decades. Partnering For Solutions We want to be part of the solution, and we are looking to partner with groups working to bring about positive change. We are committed to supporting community groups and registered charities working in these areas. In particular we are keen to play a role in helping men’s and women’s health initiatives addressing depression, diabetes, alcohol abuse, obesity and lifestyle choices which contribute to these conditions. Working Together We invite requests from registered charities and groups that meet these criteria. Our hope is to develop long-term relationships with key charity partners, preferably registered charities with transparent financial practices and good governance principles, to create programmes that bring real and tangible benefit. |
